Essential WordPress settings for beginner:
When you install WordPress, it’s just a stock installation with few stuff like a dummy post,
dummy page, dummy comment. Rest there are many things that you need to do to make it ready
for yourself and public. So, let’s get started with the essential settings that you need to make:
1-Delete default Posts and page:
Login to your WordPress dashboard and go to

but not friendly for search engines.
You need to change it to make it search engine friendly.
Go to settings > Permalink and select the post name and click on save. This ensures that your
permalink when appearing in the search engine, it will contain some keywords, and your blog
posts will rank better in the search engine.
Here is an example from my live blog:
3-Set your time Zone:
Remember at the time of installing WordPress on Bluehost, we added site-name & tagline. You can change it anytime from this setting page.
This is where you will configure your homepage name and tag line. This is very important,
as by default this is what shows up in Google search. Email address will be your site admin Email address,
and this is where you will get all the Email notifications related to your site. Make sure
you set up the time zone to your local time, this will make sure your scheduled post will go according to your time zone.
4-Disable users registration
It’s always a good idea to keep your registration open if you are creating a WordPress site like HELPROBO any other Websites which allow guest posting, but spam registration will be a
pain. But, if you are sole writer and don’t need people to register, I recommend you to disable the WordPress registration Disable it under Settings > General.
5-WordPress discussion/comment settings:
This is another section that you should setup just after installing WordPress. Just follow the
Seo and put the checkmark in front of the field as seo friendly .
6-WordPress Ping list:
By default WordPress ping only one ping service, you can notify many more services by extending
the ping service. Add more ping list here at Settings> Writing.
You can get a big list of Ping list on
the search engine : WordPress ping list.
7-WordPress Media Settings:
This one setting will improve the way WordPress handles image upload. By default, WordPress
create multiple sizes of one image that you will upload. It’s not a good advice as most of the
WordPress theme have their own settings for featured image. Go to Settings> Media & use the
below screenshot to configure the settings:
You should also add a plugin which compresses the images as you upload. You can read all

Hello friends welcome To HELPROBO as you know that
WordPress is a full fledge software, and there are a couple of technical how to involve when you start using WordPress. Installing WordPress plugins is one of such thing that every self-hosted .
here you will read 4 different ways to install WordPress plugin .
WordPress blogger should know. WP Plugin Installation can be done in two ways, but here we will talk about most common and easy way and will talk about FTP way in brief. Technically,
WordPress offers two ways to install
WordPress plugins on your blog:
Search and install
Upload and install
1-FTP
In FTP method, you upload the plugin using a FTP software such as FileZilla or Cyberduck, and
activate and configure it. Whereas, in dashboard method, you search, find, install and activate the
plugin.
2-Search and Install Plugin from WordPress Dashboard:
WordPress dashboard is one of the easiest ways to search, find and install WordPress plugin. If you know the name of the plugin, you can directly search from the dashboard and install it.
Login to your blog dashboard and click on Plugins >Add new. You will see a screen like this and for
example sake, we will install WP optimize plugin. So, in this case, I searched for plugin WP optimize, and I got following results:
If you are searching about any new plugin, you can click on Details to see more information about that plugin. Make sure to see the compatibility score with your version of the plugin. If you know about the plugin, simply click on Install and activate the plugin as shown in next image.
If the plugin that you are searching for is already installed on your blog, you will get a result showing
already installed in front of the plugin.
So now next step is to go to the setting panel of that plugin and make all necessary changes. As
a blogger most of the time we make a mistake by installing plugins, but we miss out on properly
configuring the plugin, which makes it useful.
Tip: Whenever, installing a new WP plugin, make sure you read the documentation before

4-FTP method to Install WordPress Plugin:
This is another method that is very useful when you couldn’t install WP plugin using WordPress

upload it to your WordPress plugin library using FTP software or cPanel. Normally, plugin upload
folder us located under wp-content/plugins. Once you are done uploading the file in unzipped

Hello friends welcome To HELPROBO
When I started blogging, stats of the blog was only for knowing how many visitors I’m getting,
and with time I realize stats of my blog is the key to blog growth. It doesn’t matter if you have a blog with 100 views a day or a blog with 100 millions views a day, you need to have a statsprogram which help you to track blog traffic and analyse them.
In my earlier post I have shared
about 3 stats program for WordPress blog, and Google analytics is one of the free stats program that is must have for any blog.
I would not get into details of benefits of Google analytics, as I have already covered it here. In this tutorial, you be learning about setting up your Google analytics account and adding Google analytics into your WordPress blog.
I have simplified this guide to non-technical users too, so you don’t have to worry about tech-how of Google analytics & WordPress integration.
How to Setup Google Analytics Account
Lets start the guide with setting up Google analytics account for your WordPress blog. You can repeat the same process for any website too. If you are doing this for your first website, you need to go to Google analytics page and login using your Google account or create an account which is free.
For the first time setup, you will be asked to add your website details and your personal
details to get started. If you are someone who already have an account,
click on admin tab at the
top > select account and click on add new property.
On the next page you need to add your website details to get the tracking code.
Click on Get tracking ID and you will be moved to the page with tracking ID for your website.
So far you have successfully setup your Google analytics account and created the tracking ID for your website.
Now the most interesting part of this tutorial begins;
as you need to integrate
Google analytics tracking ID into your WordPress blog. Let’s have a look at it into next section.
3 ways to add Google Analytics to WordPress
There are multiple ways to add Google analytics (GA) into your blog, and depending upon your level of blogging you should pick one of the below mentioned methods.
I’m putting down the different methods based on my recommended methods
Option 1) Google tag manager:
I started using Google analytics in 2014 and it become my only tag manager for all my sites. It’s free and using it you can manage all the tags for your blog from one place.
I recommend GTM to every professional and serious blogger. It hardly takes 5 minutes to setup and once you are done,.
Option 2) Using your WordPress theme:
Many of you might not beware of the fact that most of the WordPress theme have an option to add header and footer script. You can use this to add GA tacking code into your blog. Simply copy the tracking code which you obtained in the step1, and go to theme setting option,
look for option to add footer script and paste the code. It will work seamlessly and more over you don’t have to rely on another plugin for simple task. The above screenshot is from popular Genesis
theme framework.
Option 3: Using Google Analytics for WordPress pluginThere are many plugins which are available in WordPress Plugin repo to add Google analytics to
your WordPress blog, but Google Analytics plugin by Yoast is the best. All you need to do is to install GA for WordPress plugin from official repo (plugin link) and configure it, which I have explained below.
Once you have activated the plugin, you will see a popup asking to allow or
disallow tracking, which I prefer to select “Do not allow tracking”.
Go to settings > Google analytics to configure the plugin and click on click here to authenticate
with Google or you can also select manually enter the UA code.
Click on save setting.
Now it's done and have fun with your blog and if you 're feeling any problem let me know by commenting and share this article in social media with your friends and don't forget to subscribe us.
